“Samsara”
[sanskrit]
This acceptance that death and rebirth are constantly among us allows for the cyclical flow of allowing growth to permeate in the most effortless way possible.
I’m Emilie;
an an AI-driven Product Designer, Founder, & Wellness Coach
Currently based in Porto, Portugal, I am passionate about bringing tech and the holistic health sector together to make wellness accessible to people of all walks of life.
With over 10 years of experience coaching and working in fitness, including personal training, group fitness, and yoga, I guide working professionals to pursue a balanced lifestyle amid their fast-paced lives.
After experiencing physical burnout myself earlier in 2024, I am focused on educating others on how to reduce stress in their regular work routine, build healthier habits in their personal lives, and carve out space for self-care and energy regulation.
My approach to product design and brand strategy is rooted in a user-centric focus, informed by my experience as an avid user of mindfulness and productivity apps. With over 5 years of experience in web and mobile development for SaaS products in wellness x tech, I rely on lean and agile practices and the principles of design thinking, which enable purposeful design to be iterated based on changing user needs. I also work as an AI trainer, refining how AI tools design landing pages, e-commerce sites, and app interfaces so they meet real usability standards — work that keeps me close to how AI and human-centered design are evolving together.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, I moved to Berlin in late 2020 to explore the tech startup scene during a time when I realized I needed a shift in my own life goals and opportunities.
Growing up as a native English speaker in Canada, I had a transformative journey to land on a new continent and in a new city to meet other expats and digital nomads who wanted to connect with their own global community and work on their well-being.
In 4.5 years, I transitioned from working with hyper-growth founders and venture capitalists as a community and social media manager to managing employer branding for a Series B startup focused on e-publishing. I landed on UX/UI Design after becoming unemployed at the end of 2022. After completing a 10-week UX/UI Design bootcamp in Berlin, I worked closely as an intern in the Antler Founders’ program in Amsterdam, partnering with aspiring founders to create a mockup prototype for a B2C travel app that uses AI and LLMs to develop personalized itineraries.
After 5 years of living and working in Berlin, becoming a HIIT coach, and transitioning into UX/UI Design, I decided to adopt a slower pace of life and moved to Porto, Portugal, in early 2025. As I continue to work fully remotely, I have also adapted to living closer to nature and the Atlantic Ocean, teaching yoga outdoors at Matosinhos Beach and at local coworking communities.
Since moving to Porto, I founded SYNC, an app that helps expats and digital nomads discover events and build genuine connections in new cities — because I've lived that exact challenge myself, more than once. I rapid-prototype using Lovable, demo the app in person to validate it with real users, and lean on AI tools like Claude and Superhuman for market research and product-market fit. I also run Run-N-Rave Porto, a weekly sunset running community for expats and digital nomads, which has become a living testing ground for everything SYNC is built to solve: that the best friendships often start with showing up to the same thing, again and again.
In my free time
I am currently strength training with a personal trainer and running on a weekly basis to improve my conditioning and endurance — in 2026, I completed my first half marathon and raced a solo HYROX. Occasionally, I love to travel along the Portuguese coast in search of scenic spots for surfing and coworking. I love trying new healthy recipes, doing yoga with friends, and exploring new areas in the city by foot and bike.
I host a dinner series called A Dinner Ritual focused on creating a different Asian-inspired meal together. Attendees get to leave feeling grounded and more connected with each other as they learn new recipes, chat, cook, and eat together in a fuss-free, unpretentious environment. In Porto, I hosted a workshop on the Art of Making Dumplings, and a large Chinese New Year dinner featuring authentic dishes and cultural traditions to share a piece of my own heritage with the community here.
I also hosted a light and sound healing meditation session in Porto, bringing together movement, sound, and stillness for a different kind of communal reset.
A Dinner Ritual: The Art of Dumplings, hosted in Berlin, 2024.
Awaken the Light: An Evening of Light, Sound, and Yoga Massage, hosted in Porto, 2026.

I believe in rebirth (or Samsara in Sanskrit) in everything that we do - it is an important concept to grasp in the creative industry, as ideas are constantly in flux, given energy to flourish, lived out to its fullest potential, and then left to decay to make room for newer ideas and energy.
